We were very fortunate to perform for Home Guardsman Edwin Hawker at his birthday party at Cotleigh Village Hall in Devon on New Years Eve. Edwin was Joined by two other members of the Cotleigh Home Guard for a cup of tea and a slice of cake and a good old sing song! Edwin helped me with the book An Illustrated History of the Home Guard after an introduction from Honiton historian Steve Parsons. The secret party was organised by Honiton's Town Crier Dave Retter and wife Casa and we'd like to thank them for all their time and effort in organising the party.
Members of Edwin's family and friends were there to wish him well and the story has been reported fully in the Midweek Herald newspaper. The link for this is at the top of this page.
